Although our experience was on and off as a result of stress test nature of the beta, we did manage to have a decent sense of the title. Long story short, we think that it's shaping up quite well on PlayStation 4.

Just like with any MMO that's making the leap from PC, Tera Gold Xbox One's undergone a great deal of tweaking to be able to make it completely playable on games console. Providentially, the tweaking appears to have been successful. Two action bars line the bottom of the display, and you flick between them by holding a shoulder button. The control plot clicked with us immediately, which is always a fantastic sign.

There is still a lot of display clutter to wade through, however. There is text everywhere and at first it seems like you are being buried alive by information, but it's definitely something that regular players can get used to. Our only real complaint so far as presentation goes would be that every one the menus seem rather simple and dull.

So just how does Tera playwith? The MMO bills itself as a genuine action game, and for the most part, it seems to live up to that promise. There's no waiting around for turns or cooldowns here you're free to strike, dodge, and pull off special moves whenever you want. The system's reasonably fluid, and with a bunch of different player classes to select from, there is a fantastic amount of variation on offer.

Just to be clear, this is not Devil May Cry, but as far as MMOs go, it is rather an impressive hack and slasher. Believe The Elder Scrolls Online, just a lot more over-the-top, and you are on the right path. The main point is that it's pretty entertaining, and we loved letting loose with assorted strong attacks once we had unlocked them through levelling up.

But everything beyond combat seems fairly standard -- the kind of quality that you'd perhaps expect from a free-to-play MMO. Ancient quests are throwaway events, along with the dialogue is instantly forgettable. While we get that many individuals just dive into games like Tera since they enjoy the mill, it'd still be nice if things felt involved.

On this note, at least character creation is trendy. The system isn't exceptionally in-depth, but with a range of beautifully constructed races to pick from, it's easy to make a hero who looks the part. Couple them with sweet looking weapons and armour, and you have got an MMO that reddit discuss has a good sense of in-game design.

All in all, we are eager to provide Tera another shot once the final release hits the PlayStation Store. The action-based approach surely gives it an individuality, and there's possibly a great deal of space for customisation. The PS4's already home to a few free-to-play MMOs, but there's a certain edge to Tera that may place it towards the surface of the heap.
